Explore the mysteries of Egypt on an exclusive 15-day, 14-night tour hosted by Dr. Chris Naunton. Included two private visits to the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx. A local expert in Egyptian history and archaeology will also be accompanying the group.

Dr. Chris Naunton is a distinguished British Egyptologist, writer, and broadcaster, renowned for his extensive contributions to the study and public understanding of ancient Egypt. He completed his undergraduate studies in Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Birmingham, followed by a Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Egyptology at Swansea University.
Dr. Naunton’s career is marked by significant leadership roles, including serving as Director (CEO) of the Egypt Exploration Society from 2012 to 2016, where he oversaw numerous archaeological projects and publications. He also held the position of President of the International Association of Egyptologists from 2015 to 2019, contributing to the global advancement of Egyptological research.
As a broadcaster, Dr. Naunton has presented several acclaimed documentaries, bringing ancient Egyptian history to a wide audience. Notably, he hosted “Flinders Petrie: The Man Who Discovered Egypt,” a BBC documentary exploring the life of the pioneering archaeologist, and “Tutankhamun: The Mystery of the Burnt Mummy,” which delved into the enigmatic circumstances surrounding the young pharaoh’s death.
In addition to his media presence, Dr. Naunton is a prolific author. His publications include “Searching for the Lost Tombs of Egypt,” which examines the quests for undiscovered royal tombs, and “Egyptologists’ Notebooks,” a compilation of historical records from early explorers of ancient Egypt. He has also authored children’s books, such as “King Tutankhamun Tells All!” and “Cleopatra Tells All!,” aiming to inspire younger audiences with the rich history of Egypt.
Beyond his writing and broadcasting endeavors, Dr. Naunton is actively involved in lecturing and leading tours to Egypt, sharing his expertise with enthusiasts worldwide. He serves as Director of the Robert Anderson Research Charitable Trust, supporting visiting scholars in London, and was appointed President of the Thames Valley Ancient Egypt Society in 2020, reflecting his ongoing commitment to the academic community.
Dr. Naunton’s dedication to Egyptology is further demonstrated through his participation in innovative educational programs. He has been involved in “Playing in the Past,” a series that utilizes the video game “Assassin’s Creed Origins” to teach Egyptology and the history of ancient Egypt, highlighting his commitment to engaging diverse audiences through modern technology.

MEETING PLACE CAIRO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Pick up point for the start of tour is the arrival lounge of Cairo International Airport. On arrival, all clients will be given transfers to the hotel in Cairo regardless of arrival time or date. At the end of the tour, clients will just make their own way from the hotel to the airport as it is connected to the building. They can then go at whatever time their flight is. Those who have late flights can always go back into the city if they want.

CANCELLATIONS
& REFUNDS
  • Cancellations must be received in writing and will be processed according to the date the written notice is received. Although a verbal cancellation is appreciated, it will not be accepted as final notice. Departure is defined as the date of the first flight from travellers country, or the trip departure date as indicated on our Trip Schedule, whichever comes first.
    Money will be refunded minus the following cancellation fees/penalties per person (unless different for a particular trip, then the special cancellation schedule of that trip will apply):
    – From time of booking up to 90 days prior to departure US$500.00 per person
    – 89-60 days prior to departure US$750.00 per person
    – 59-31 days prior to departure 75% of total land cost
    – 30-0 days prior to departure No refund
  • Aside from the above penalties, any additional penalties on airline tickets imposed by the airlines- in cases of cancellation or date changes after issuance of tickets – will be totally charged to the traveler. In addition, any costs involved in obtaining visas will also be collected from the traveler and cannot be reimbursed by Ancient Origins or its suppliers.
  • Hotel rooms booked on our tours are run of The House (ROH), any special rooms with views or upper floors will entail a supplement that clients will be responsible to cover.
